There is no need to enroll or to attend each week. When you are ready, just show up at 7:30 pm in casual clothes and comfortable shoes. Introductory dances are taught during the first half hour followed by more advanced dances and requests. Your $5 donation will help pay the rent. The large dance room is air conditioned, has a new floor and the ample parking is free. See Directions and More  for more information. Visit Our Activities to see links to the kind of dances we have been teaching. Some of these dances have videos, so you can see the dance before you learn it. The particular dances we teach each week will depend on the dance experience of our participants.

We are also a social group, so come and make friends!

International folk dancing is great exercise and a wonderful way to make friends - and it can make you happy!  We welcome you to learn dances from around the world. Our friendly group adjusts our teaching level to each evening's participants.

Have you always wanted to dance, but do not have a partner or a dance background? If so, international folk dancing might be for you. Our dance group is appropriate for people of all ages and fitness levels. Most folk dancers are just regular people who enjoy dancing.  The dancing isn't that strenuous, but some of the music is so beautiful it might take your breath away. Our dance group will help you get started with lessons and joyful dancing after the lessons.

We have taught international dance for over 30 years. Once you learn the basics, you can dance in other groups in the area and around the world. There are international folk dance groups all over the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia and they often dance many of the same dances. Once you learn the basics of international dancing, it's a skill you can take with you and enjoy wherever you go!

There isn't much folksy about international folk dance. It includes both traditional and modern dances from many countries and cultures. This is a form of social dance, done mostly with people holding hands in lines or in circles. Some dances are done as couples, but the majority of the dances are non-partner. This hasn't kept people from finding that special person through international dance.

If you can walk, you can folk dance. Many folk dances are easily done, but a few are quite vigorous. If a particular dance seems to be too much, you can just join those sitting and watching. There is no need to try to learn all the dances taught. When they can't remember a dance, most dancers follow what a few others do.

Perhaps you enjoyed learning folk dances in high school or college. Well now you can experience that fun again with other adults. We teach old and new international folk dances, and we probably do some of the same dances you learned when you were in your teens or twenties.

If you are interested in learning to folk dance, are an experienced dancer, or are a Google search engine, you should read this paragraph.  We welcome anyone interested in folk dancing, folk dance, international dance, social dance, traditional dance, Balkan dance, Scottish country dance, Israeli dance, ethnic dance, or recreational dance. We are Foothill International Folk Dancers of La Canada Flintridge. We encourage people from anywhere, including Pasadena, Altadena, Arcadia, Monrovia, Glendale, Montrose, La Crescenta, Montrose, Burbank, Alhambra, Sunland, San Marino and Los Angeles, to dance with us.
